Regrets at 50, I’ve had a few

Here are a small fraction of the regrets I have from my first half-century of living.

I recently turned 50, which is as good a time as any to look back on one’s life. When I do, in addition to appreciating all the good stuff that’s happened to me (mostly by luck), I realize there have also been lots of, um, poor choices on my part. Below is a small sampling of the many things I regret having done over the years, in no particular order.

I regret blow drying my hair as a teenager. That was a bad idea, I realize now.
I regret not being more open to trying new things — usually.
I regret not being happy at 6 feet 2 inches and trying to heighten.
I regret going to grad school to study a topic I wasn’t really interest in, for four years.
I regret leaving grad school and not getting a PhD and its perks.
I regret not drinking coffee until my mid-20s. I’ve been trying to make up for it ever since.
